Tiffany Fisk Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Fentanyl Trafficking
A 33-year-old woman from Barre, Vermont, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for distributing fentanyl, a highly addictive synthetic opioid. Tiffany Fisk, a resident of Barre, was found guilty of distributing fentanyl and cocaine base in Washington County, Vermont, in October 2021 and January 2022.
According to court records, Fisk distributed fentanyl and cocaine base to a confidential informant assisting law enforcement in Washington County, Vermont. The investigation, which involved the Vermont State Police, the Montpelier Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, revealed that Fisk's husband, David Tom, was in possession of a firearm, which is a crime for a convicted felon.
As part of Fisk's sentencing, she admitted to attempting to obstruct the investigation by promising cocaine base to a person in exchange for false statements to the Vermont State Police regarding the ownership of the seized firearm. Fisk's husband, David Tom, has pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17, 2022.
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont commended the investigatory efforts of the Vermont State Police, the Montpelier Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan A. Ophardt handled the prosecution, while Fisk was represented by John Mabie, Esq.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence by bringing together law enforcement and the communities they serve. The program is based on four core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in communities, supporting community-based organizations that prevent violence, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring results.
