Timothy Allen Crowe, False Statement in Connection with the Acquisition of a Firearm, West Virginia 2023

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA - Timothy Allen Crowe, a 56-year-old man from Bridgeport, West Virginia, is accused of lying about his previous domestic battery conviction while purchasing a 9mm pistol in April 2018 in Marion County.

Crowe, who has a prior conviction for domestic battery, faces up to 10 years incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000 for making a false statement in connection with the acquisition of a firearm.

The charge against Crowe was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime. PSN is an evidence-based program that focuses on identifying the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and developing comprehensive solutions to address them.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives investigated.

According to the indictment, Crowe lied about his previous charges when trying to purchase a firearm, which is a felony offense. This case highlights the importance of properly disclosing prior convictions when attempting to acquire firearms.
