Timothy Michael Hisey, Selling Stolen Guns, Kansas 2023

Published February 4, 2019

A Topeka man was sentenced Monday to 40 months in federal prison for selling stolen guns to an undercover agent, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.

Timothy Michael Hisey, 32, Topeka, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of firearms following a felony conviction.

In his plea, he admitted he sold firearms to an agent working undercover for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The firearms included five shotguns and three rifles.

Hisey was prohibited from possessing firearms because of a 2016 felony drug conviction in Shawnee County District Court.

McAllister commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Hough for their work on the case.

The case was prosecuted under the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, the sentence is a result of Hisey's guilty plea to the charge of unlawful possession of firearms following a felony conviction. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Hisey's sentence is a reminder of the serious consequences of selling stolen guns.
