Tiwonne Montgomery, Pharmacy Robbery, Ohio 2017
Grimy Times has learned that Tiwonne Montgomery, 22, of Dayton, Ohio, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison for her role in a series of pharmacy robberies across the Miami Valley region.
Montgomery's sentence will be served concurrently with a state sentence for a separate pharmacy robbery. She was one of eight defendants charged in connection with the robberies, which took place in Fairfield, Middletown, Franklin, Hamilton, Westerville, Trotwood, Dayton, Oakwood, Kettering, Beavercreek, Moraine, Vandalia, Union Township, and Cincinnati.
The robberies, which occurred between March and June 2017, involved defendants approaching pharmacy counters as if to turn in a prescription, but instead demanded that pharmacists fill bags with controlled substances.
Montgomery was charged in a 10-count superseding indictment, which added six defendants to the initial charges. The indictment alleged that the defendants conspired to rob pharmacies, with some defendants receiving sentences ranging from 14 to 54 months in prison.
Other defendants charged in the superseding indictment include Martez Henderson, 21, of Dayton, who was sentenced to 14 months in prison, and Kenneth Evans, Jr., who was sentenced to 42 months in prison.
The investigation into the pharmacy robberies was a cooperative effort between the Middletown Police Department and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy M. Smith and Brent Tabacchi represented the United States in the case.
U.S. Attorney Benjamin C. Glassman commended the efforts of the Middletown Police Department and the FBI in bringing the defendants to justice.
The pharmacy robberies resulted in the theft of prescription drugs, including morphine, oxycodone, and hydrocodone, which were allegedly sold on the street.
