Sentenced to 15 Years: Todd Edward Daniels
A repeat offender from Kanawha, Iowa, has been dealt a harsh punishment for his involvement in a methamphetamine conspiracy. Todd Edward Daniels, 49, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for his crimes.
Daniels pleaded guilty on August 9, 2017, to conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. He was previously convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine in 2005, showing a clear pattern of behavior.
According to the investigation, Daniels was involved in a conspiracy that manufactured more than 50 grams of actual methamphetamine between the fall of 2016 and May 2017. The authorities monitored his activities and tracked purchases of pseudoephedrine pills made by Daniels and his associates.
The search warrant executed at Daniels' residence revealed multiple items used in clandestine methamphetamine laboratories, further solidifying the evidence against him.
Daniels was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge Linda R. Reade on February 12, 2018. He was sentenced to 180 months' imprisonment, with a special assessment of $100 imposed. Additionally, he must serve a 10-year term of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
Daniels is currently being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and investigated by the Division of Narcotics Enforcement (DNE), the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, and the Britt Police Department.
