Tommy Alan Cain, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Michigan 2023

Tommy Alan Cain, 61, a former resident of Kincheloe, Michigan, has been charged with serious crimes involving the sexual abuse of a minor, according to a federal indictment. Cain was arrested in Battle Creek, Michigan, and is currently in custody pending a hearing on whether he should be released on bond or detained pending trial.

According to the indictment, Cain allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a minor victim over a four-year period, beginning in 2007, on trust lands of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. The indictment charges Cain with five counts of Sexual Abuse by Threat, one count of Abusive Sexual Contact by Threat, and six counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

The charges against Cain carry significant prison time, with the Sexual Abuse by Threat counts each carrying a maximum sentence of life. The remaining counts carry maximum sentences of three years and fifteen years, respectively.

The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Hannah N. Bobee is prosecuting the case. The investigation was conducted by the Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police and the Marquette office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
