Toneisha D. Smith, Fentanyl Trafficking, Missouri 2024
A St. Louis, Missouri, woman has been sentenced to prison after selling fentanyl to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and nearly hitting three DEA task force officers with her car.
Toneisha D. Smith, 27, was sentenced to 155 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp on Tuesday, days after sending a co-defendant to prison for 210 months.
According to court documents, Smith sold fentanyl to the DEA from March to June 2024 and was found with fentanyl, cash, and an AR-style pistol during a court-approved search of her home on Miami Street in St. Louis on April 1, 2024.
On June 18, 2024, Smith sped away from task force officers in her Kia K5, aiming the vehicle at three of the officers. The officers were able to jump out of the way, and Smith ultimately escaped.
Smith was charged by complaint on June 18, 2024, and pleaded guilty in December to one count each of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, assaulting or resisting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Co-defendant Trequan A. Dotson, 25, was sentenced to 210 months in prison on April 2 for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Three others have also been convicted in connection with the case, including Larry C. Hayes III, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and Marcel Harris, who was sentenced to 1 year in prison.
