Traddarryl Rishad Boykins, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Alabama 2024

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A convicted felon pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson.

Traddarryl Rishad Boykins, 32, of Birmingham, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge L. Scott Coogler to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the plea agreement, on January 29, 2024, a Homewood Police officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Boykins. Boykins led officers on a chase from Homewood to downtown Birmingham. The pursuit ended when Boykins crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of 18th Street North and 15th Avenue North. The driver and passenger of the vehicle suffered multiple injuries and were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Officers arrested Boykins and conducted a search of the vehicle. In the driver's floorboard, officers found a loaded Glock 23 pistol.

Boykins is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of prior felony convictions. ATF investigated the case along with the Homewood Police.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William R. McComb is prosecuting the case.
