Armed Dealer Gets 7+ Years for Meth and Firearm Charges
A Marietta, Georgia man, Traon Turk, 30, has been sentenced to over seven years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution operation.
Turk led police on a high-speed car chase in Marietta in 2023, with officers ultimately apprehending him after a brief foot pursuit. At the time of his arrest, Turk was found to be in possession of a firearm, a crime for which he was previously convicted.
Turk was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. He pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge, the Honorable U.S. District Judge, in the Western District of Missouri.
The charges against Turk carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000. The sentence was handed down March 12th, 2024, in the Western District of Missouri.
The investigation into Turk’s operation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) with the assistance of local law enforcement agencies.
