Greenbelt, Maryland — A shocking case of kidnapping has come to light in Maryland, with 27-year-old Tray David Sherman, a resident of Washington, D.C., pleading guilty to the crime on July 1, 2022.

According to court documents, Sherman and his co-defendants Darius Young a/k/a “Mup”, Christopher Allen Young, Anthony Erik Hebron, and Lamar Perkins, worked together to kidnap a victim from a Maryland casino and hotel on February 3, 2021. The victim, who was identified as Victim A, was lured into a car with Sherman and Hebron, who promised to provide women and money in exchange for cocaine.

Once in Southeast Washington, D.C., Victim A obtained cocaine from a supplier and returned to the car, where Sherman and Hebron demanded the code to Victim A’s hotel safe. When Victim A refused, Hebron struck him in the forehead with a gun, and the group stole Victim A’s property, including a gaming system, $1,500 in casino chips, and $6,000 in cash.

The group then fled the hotel, leaving Victim A with severe injuries, including a bloody wound on his forehead, a broken nose, and cuts on his mouth and eye. Law enforcement later executed a search warrant on Sherman’s vehicle, where they found three black gloves, a black mask, and the clothing the group wore during the robbery.

Sherman was arrested on March 31, 2021, in Germantown, Maryland, and charged with kidnapping. As part of his guilty plea, Sherman admitted to his role in the kidnapping and robbery scheme.

The case highlights the brazen nature of the crime and the severity of the punishment. With a guilty plea, Sherman faces the consequences of his actions, and the public can rest assured that justice is being served.
