Buffalo Man Sentenced for Cocaine Distribution

In a major blow to the city's illicit drug trade, Tremaine Giddens, a 42-year-old Buffalo resident, has been sentenced to 71 months in prison for his role in distributing cocaine and possessing ammunition as a convicted felon.

According to court documents, on October 2017, Giddens sold a quantity of cocaine to an individual working with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a commercial parking lot at 15 Skillen Street in Buffalo.

On November 9, 2017, a federal search warrant was executed at 15 Skillen Street where investigators recovered a quantity of suspected cocaine, plastic bags, baking powder, and 2 digital scales. In addition, 35 rounds of .44 caliber ammunition was recovered.

Giddens' troubles with the law date back to 2000, when he was convicted of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree in Erie County Court. In 2006, he was convicted of possession with intent to distribute and distribute a controlled substance in Federal Court.

As a result of those convictions, Giddens is legally prohibited from possessing ammunition. His sentencing is the latest development in a long-running investigation by the DEA, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Division.
