Trevan Nordmann, Child Sexual Abuse Material, Maine 2021

A Sanford man was sentenced to six years in prison for possessing and transporting child sexual abuse materials, U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee announced. Trevan Nordmann, 31, was found guilty of his crimes by U.S. District Judge George Z. Singal on March 28, 2022.

According to court records, on September 17, 2021, an online covert employee of the FBI was monitoring a group chat on Kik and engaged with a participant using the name “Jerry G”. “Jerry G,” who was later identified as Nordmann, sent the agent three videos showing minors engaged in sexually explicit content. The videos included at least one child under the age of 12.

Subsequent to the discovery, Nordmann’s home was searched and electronic devices were seized. He admitted to sending the videos on Kik and that additional child pornography videos and images would be found on his cell phone. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) investigated the case.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006. U.S. Attorney Darcie N. McElwee emphasized the severity of the crime, stating that the images document victims’ exploitation and abuse, and they suffer re-victimization each time the images are viewed.

Trevan Nordmann will serve six years in prison and five years of supervised release. His crime is a stark reminder of the importance of reporting incidents involving child pornography.
