Sioux Falls Man Sentenced for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender
On July 14, 2026, U.S. District Judge Eric C. Schulte sentenced Trevor J. Johnson, 38, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for his conviction of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, in violation of 18 U.S.C. ยง 2250(a).
According to the press release from the DOJ USAO Middle District Alabama, Johnson was required to register as a sex offender due to a prior conviction for a sex offense. However, he failed to register as required by law.
The sentencing took place at the federal courthouse in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from the Sioux Falls Police Department.
