Felon in Possession of a Firearm Lands Marshall County Woman in Hot Water
WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Marshall County woman will have to face the music after being convicted of unlawful possession of firearms in federal court.
Tricia Renee Thames, 36, of Moundsville, West Virginia, was convicted of Felon in Possession of a Firearm today in federal court, according to United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.
Thames pled guilty today to an Information charging her with one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Thames, who has a felony conviction for Manslaughter from the State of Oklahoma, was discovered to be in possession of a .357 caliber revolver and a .22 caliber pistol in Ohio County, West Virginia in 2015.
The discovery was made by investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, who conducted a thorough investigation to build the case against Thames.
Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, bringing justice to the community and holding Thames accountable for her actions.
Thames faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
The case was presided over by Senior U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp, Jr. and marks another example of the federal government taking action against those who would seek to flout the law.
