Troy Jackson, Felon in Possession of Firearm, Missouri 2020

A 28-year-old man from St. Louis, Missouri, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute the deadly opioid fentanyl, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Troy Jackson was indicted on August 9, 2020, with the charges. The indictment stems from an investigation into Jackson, which was sparked by a homicide in June 2020.

According to charging documents, Jackson was wanted for first-degree murder and armed criminal action related to the homicide, as well as second and third degree assault arising from a separate incident. Additionally, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Jackson on July 2, 2020, for violating his parole stemming from a 2013 conviction for burglary.

On August 9, 2020, law enforcement officers, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, found Jackson at a hotel in St. Louis. In the hotel room, they seized approximately five grams of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and a Mossberg 9mm pistol.

The details contained in the charging document are allegations. Jackson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Operation Legend, a sustained, systematic, and coordinated law enforcement initiative, was launched in Kansas City, Mo., on July 8, 2020. It was later expanded to other cities, including St. Louis, where it was launched on August 6, 2020.
