Dontavious Whitaker, Fentanyl Trafficking, Virginia 2025

⏱ 2 min read

Two men, Dontavious Whitaker, 28, and D’Moni Moten, 27, are going down for a years-long fentanyl trafficking conspiracy that put lives at risk in Northern Virginia. Whitaker of Alexandria and Moten of Woodbridge were sentenced to 20 and 16 years in prison respectively.

Between 2021 and 2025, they worked together to distribute counterfeit pressed pills containing opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, and the synthetic opioid carfentanil, 100 times more potent than fentanyl.

It all came crashing down on February 19, 2025, when US Marshals tried to stop them in Alexandria. Whitaker and Moten took off on foot, leaving behind a Range Rover and a Jaguar loaded with guns, pills, and cash. The Range Rover had 1,800 pills containing 203 grams of fentanyl, while the Jaguar held 32 grams of cocaine and 109 grams of fentanyl.

Law enforcement made multiple controlled purchases from Whitaker and Moten, including two deals that involved the sale of pills with 1,058 grams of a heroin mixture. On November 12, 2025, authorities searched multiple locations and vehicles, finding guns, cash, and more pills.

Whitaker and Moten’s stash included a loaded handgun with 17 rounds in the magazine, over 1,000 fentanyl pills, $182,568, and a money counter. Their years-long operation put countless lives at risk, and now they’ll spend decades paying the price.
