Tykeith Diemell Martin, Heroin Distribution, West Virginia 2023
Huntington, West Virginia - In a shocking turn of events, Tykeith Diemell Martin, a 22-year-old resident of Huntington, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin, a federal crime.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on July 14, 2023, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a Huntington residence where Martin was staying. Officers found approximately 37 grams of heroin, an SCCY 9mm pistol and 9mm ammunition. Martin admitted that he possessed the heroin and firearm and that he intended to distribute the heroin.
Martin is scheduled to be sentenced on July 29, 2024, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. These harsh penalties serve as a stark reminder of the consequences of engaging in narcotics trafficking.
United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Cabell County Sheriff's Office. Their tireless efforts have helped to keep the streets of Huntington safer.
United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the hearing. Assistant United States Attorney Joseph F. Adams is prosecuting the case.
