Tyler Layne Gillispie, Assault by Strangling, Oklahoma 2025
A brutal act of violence has shaken the community in Oklahoma. Tyler Layne Gillispie, 32, of Dickson, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of Assault of a Spouse, Intimate Partner, and Dating Partner by Strangling and Attempting to Strangle.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine. This heinous crime occurred on May 6, 2025, in Carter County, within the boundaries of the Chickasaw Nation Reservation.
Gillispie's actions were the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Chickasaw Nation Lighthorse Police Department. The victim, a dating partner, was assaulted in a senseless act of violence.
The Honorable Jason A. Robertson, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Gillispie will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing.
