Tyler Ryan Cuff, Smuggling Firearms, Washington 2015

Spokane, Washington – In a shocking case of firearm trafficking, 32-year-old Tyler Ryan Cuff of Oroville, Washington, was sentenced to a 30-month term of imprisonment for dealing in firearms without a license. The shocking revelation came after Cuff pleaded guilty on October 28, 2015, to one count of Dealing in Firearms Without a License.

U.S. Attorney Michael C. Ormsby announced the sentencing, stating that the illegal sale of firearms poses a danger to citizens in both the United States and Canada. Ormsby commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) for its thorough investigation into the matter.

According to information disclosed during the court proceedings, Cuff had been purchasing firearms at gun shows in Washington and smuggling them into Canada, where he sold them without a federal firearms license. Unfortunately, several of the firearms Cuff sold were subsequently found at crime scenes in Canada.

Cuff's sentence will be served concurrently with a sentence he received in Canada for smuggling an AK-47 into that country.

The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington will aggressively prosecute firearms violations that occur within this district, according to U.S. Attorney Ormsby.

The investigation was conducted by the ATF, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rudy J. Verschoor.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of firearm trafficking and the need for vigilance in preventing the illegal sale of firearms.
