Felon in Possession of a Firearm Lands Fort Wayne Man in Prison
Fort Wayne, Indiana - In a federal crime case, Tyquane Lamar Stewart, age 25, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, was sentenced to 100 months imprisonment for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to documents filed in this case, Stewart possessed a firearm on or about November 16, 2016, after previously being convicted of attempted robbery, a class C felony, in December of 2010 before Allen Superior Court. This conviction made Stewart a felon, rendering him ineligible to possess a firearm.
The case was the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with the assistance of the Fort Wayne Police Department. The case was handled by Assistant United States Attorney Stacey R. Speith.
On July 21, 2017, Stewart appeared before United States District Court Judge Theresa Springmann, who handed down the sentence of 100 months imprisonment and 1 year of supervised release.
