Tyrek Montez Arrington, Pharmacy Robbery, Maryland 2021
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. - A 24-year-old Temple Hills man has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for his role in a 2019 pharmacy robbery, where he discharged a firearm.
According to court documents, Tyrek Montez Arrington entered a drug store in Clinton, Md. on October 15, 2019, wearing a surgical mask and black latex gloves. Armed with a handgun, Arrington walked to the pharmacy area and entered the pharmacist booth, where he pointed the gun at the pharmacist and demanded oxycodone from a safe. He then demanded that the pharmacist open the cash register, before firing one round into the ceiling and taking the cash drawer.
Witnesses testified that Arrington attempted to flee with the cash drawer, but was apprehended by law enforcement officers. A live round and a spent shell casing were collected from behind the counter, and the handgun that Arrington dropped was recovered - a loaded .22-caliber handgun.
Arrington was convicted of robbing a pharmacy, discharging a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. PSN brings together law enforcement and community stakeholders to identify and develop solutions to violent crime problems.
Acting United States Attorney Jonathan F. Lenzner commended the FBI and Prince George's County Police Department for their work in the investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dwight Draughon and William D. Moomau.
