Baltimore Man Pleads Guilty to Murder-for-Hire

A 25-year-old Baltimore man pleaded guilty to his role in a murder-for-hire conspiracy that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Columbia man.

According to court documents, Tyrik Braxton, a/k/a 'Son-Son,' accepted payment to kill Juan Ross, who was shot and killed on October 4, 2020, in the area of Basket Ring Road in Columbia.

As part of the plea agreement, Braxton admitted that he assisted the co-conspirators who shot Ross, knowing that Ross was going to be killed.

Braxton and the government have agreed that, if the Court accepts the plea, Braxton will be sentenced to between 20 and 25 years in federal prison.

Braxton's co-defendant, Daquante Thomas, was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison on January 11, 2023, for his role in the murder-for-hire conspiracy.

The case was made possible by investigative leads generated from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (ATF) National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN).
