Tyrone Walker, Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon, Florida 2018

Tyrone Walker, 36, was found guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon in a federal jury trial.

According to evidence presented at trial, Walker possessed a firearm that he used to shoot and kill another man during a dispute. At the time of the incident, Walker had a prior felony conviction and therefore was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law.

Walker faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2018.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that has been successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Walker was indicted on March 22, 2018. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Callan Albritton and James Preston.

The Middle District of Florida, under the leadership of U.S. Attorney Maria Chapa Lopez, coordinates PSN efforts in cooperation with various federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.
