NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – On July 16, 2026, Tyrone Whittington, age 41, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier for committing federal firearms offenses.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Whittington pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c)(1)(A)(i). The charges were brought under the federal firearms laws.

Whittington will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison term and pay a $200 mandatory special assessment fee. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Alabama announced the sentencing.
