Ulric S. Crossland, Possession of Stolen Firearms, Mississippi 2018
A convicted felon from Hattiesburg, Mississippi has been handed a significant prison sentence for possession of stolen firearms. Ulric S. Crossland, 27, was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Keith Starrett.
On July 17, 2017, in Lamar County, Mississippi, law enforcement officers conducted a search of Crossland's apartment and discovered him in possession of a Romarm/Cugir 7.62x39 mm caliber rifle, a Taurus 9mm pistol, and a Glock .40 caliber pistol. Both the Taurus and Glock pistols were stolen.
On November 2, 2017, in Forrest County, Mississippi, law enforcement officers again found Crossland in possession of a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol. Crossland was previously convicted of possessing a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm.
The case was investigated by the FBI's Southeast Mississippi Safe Streets Task Force, which consists of FBI agents and officers from the Mississippi State Auditor's office, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Hattiesburg Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stan Harris.
Crossland was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine as part of his sentence. He pled guilty before Judge Starrett on May 14, 2018.
