Passaic County Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in New Jersey. Vaughn Tiedeman, 48, of West Milford, New Jersey, has admitted to receiving and possessing child pornography, a serious offense that carries severe penalties.
According to court documents, between July 2018 and April 2019, Tiedeman downloaded and possessed over 600 images of child sexual abuse, including depictions of young children and violent acts. This horrific crime is a stark reminder of the need for vigilance in protecting our children from exploitation.
The charges against Tiedeman include receipt and possession of child pornography, which carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 20 years in prison, and a fine of $250,000. The possession charge alone carries a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig commended the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Jason J. Molina, for their investigation, which led to Tiedeman's guilty plea.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sarah A. Sulkowski of the Violent Crime Unit and Francesca Liquori, Chief of the Narcotics/Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force Unit, in Newark.
Tiedeman's sentencing is scheduled for April 20, 2022. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of such heinous crimes and the importance of continued efforts to protect our children from exploitation.
