Wayne Adam Tucker, Dealing Firearms Without License, Illinois 2020
A Chicago man has been charged with dealing firearms without a license after allegedly selling dozens of handguns and assault rifles in the city's south suburbs.
Wayne Adam Tucker, 55, of Albion, IN, was charged with one count of dealing firearms without a license and one count of distribution of a controlled substance, according to a complaint filed in the Northern District of Illinois.
The charges stem from a series of alleged sales that took place between April 2019 and February 2020, in which Tucker allegedly sold 39 guns to a confidential source working on behalf of law enforcement.
The sales occurred on four occasions: April 28, 2019, August 17, 2019, November 16, 2019, and February 8, 2020. During the February transaction, Tucker allegedly sold approximately a pound of marijuana to the confidential source.
Tucker allegedly told the confidential source that he had several people supplying him with firearms that had been purchased at gun shows in Indiana.
The details contained in the charging document are all allegations. Tucker is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Operation Legend, which was launched in Chicago on July 22, 2020, has yielded more than 3,500 local, state, and federal arrests, with more than 800 defendants charged with federal crimes.
Operation Legend was launched in response to the city's increased homicide and non-fatal shooting rates. The initiative is named after four-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was shot and killed on June 29th in Kansas City, Missouri, while asleep in his home.
