Wesley Anderson Williams, Latin Kings Racketeering, North Carolina 2012
A member of the North Carolina Almighty Latin King and Queen Nation (Latin Kings) has been brought to justice after pleading guilty to racketeering-related charges. Wesley Anderson Williams, aka 'King Bam,' pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to participate in a racketeering enterprise.
Williams admitted to committing home invasion, burglary, assault, arson, and check kiting on behalf of the racketeering enterprise. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled.
The indictment alleges the defendants participated in a violent racketeering conspiracy involving Hobbs Act robberies, kidnapping, robbery, arson, and extortion in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem area. Williams was one of 14 individuals charged in the superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Greensboro in February 2012.
Several other members and associates of the Latin Kings have also pleaded guilty and admitted to their criminal conduct. Their sentencing dates have not been determined.
A total of 20 individuals have been charged in connection with the Latin Kings racketeering conspiracy. Carlos Coleman, Jorge Peter Cornell, Russell Lloyd Kilfoil, Randolph Leif Kilfoil, Jason Paul Yates, Samuel Isaac Velasquez, Irvin Vasquez, and Ernesto Wilson are scheduled for trial on October 15, 2012.
An indictment is merely an allegation and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorney Leshia M. Lee-Dixon of the Criminal Division's Organized Crime and Gang Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. J. Lang for the Middle District of North Carolina. The matter was investigated by the FBI Charlotte Field Office, Greensboro Resident Agency; Greensboro Police Department; and the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.
