A Berkeley County man has been sentenced for possessing child pornography, a disturbing crime that has shaken the community.

Wesley Chalk, 41, of Inwood, West Virginia, was sentenced to 84 months incarceration, followed by 25 years of supervised release, for possession of child pornography. The crime occurred in August 2016 in Berkeley County, West Virginia.

According to the investigation, Chalk admitted to having in his possession child pornography depicting a prepubescent minor and a minor under the age of 12. The crime was reported to have taken place in August 2016.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security conducting the investigation.

Chief U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided over the case, handing down the sentence to Chalk.

Chalk's guilty plea was entered in August 2017, after he admitted to the crime. The sentence of 84 months incarceration, followed by 25 years of supervised release, reflects the severity of the crime.

The case highlights the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse. It is a sobering reminder of the need for vigilance and action to prevent such crimes from occurring.
