Wilfrido Saenz, Conspiracy to Transport Aliens and Conspiracy to Kill a Witness, New Mexico 2026
In a chilling tale of human trafficking and witness intimidation, three New Mexico men have been charged with conspiracy to transport aliens and conspiracy to kill a witness. Wilfrido Saenz, 29, Ignacio Jaramillo, 22, and his brother Ismael Jaramillo, 35, all of New Mexico, were slapped with a superseding indictment by a federal grand jury in the District of New Mexico.
According to court documents, the trio conspired to transport illegal aliens between June 2021 and April 2024. But things took a deadly turn when Saenz and Ignacio Jaramillo allegedly plotted to kill a witness in April 2024, after the witness provided law enforcement with information about their human smuggling scheme. The motive behind the murder was clear: to silence the witness and protect their illicit operation.
The indictment highlights the ruthless nature of human smuggling networks, which prioritize profits over human life. "The criminal networks engaging in this do not care about the people they are smuggling," said Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. "They only care about money and themselves. They endanger lives and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals."
The superseding indictment brings the total number of charges against the three men to a staggering count. Their alleged crimes have left a trail of destruction and fear in their wake, and it remains to be seen how this case will unfold in the courts.
The investigation was a joint effort between Task Force Alpha and the Homeland Security Task Force, a testament to the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating human trafficking and related crimes. As the case moves forward, one thing is clear: justice will be served, and those responsible for these heinous crimes will face the full weight of the law.
