William Heck, Methamphetamine and Fentanyl Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2020
SCRANTON - A Luzerne County man was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for his role in a massive methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking operation in the Hazleton area of Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
According to court documents, William Heck, age 42, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of methamphetamine and an additional amount of fentanyl.
The charges stem from an incident on October 2, 2020, in which members of the Pennsylvania State Police served a search warrant at a residence in Hazleton, where Heck was living, and seized 226 grams of methamphetamine, 2,464 packets of fentanyl, $4,452 in U.S. currency, and other items of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation into Heck's operation was conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O'Hara prosecuted the case.
The case was prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime.
Project Safe Neighborhoods focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.
