Published April 8, 2022

CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Connecticut man has admitted to his role in a firearms trafficking conspiracy, leaving him facing serious charges. William Joseph Milot, 32, of Waterbury, Connecticut, pleaded guilty to one count of "Aiding and Abetting the False Statement in Connection with the Acquisition of Firearms".

The incident occurred in December 2020 in Marion County, where Milot worked with another individual to illegally purchase two 9mm pistols from a firearms dealer. This illegal activity is a serious offense that can have severe consequences.

Milot's guilty plea has put him at risk of up to 10 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $250,000. However, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, according to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives conducting the investigation.

The case was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi.

With this admission, Milot has put his freedom at risk. The consequences of his actions will be severe, and he must now face the music. The sentence he receives will be a direct result of the seriousness of the offense and his prior record.

As this case moves forward, the community will be watching closely to see the outcome. Will Milot receive the maximum sentence, or will he be given a more lenient punishment?
