Local Man Admits to Methamphetamine Distribution Charges
In a shocking turn of events, William Maylen Crayton II, a 30-year-old man from Bridgeport, West Virginia, has admitted to methamphetamine charges, leaving many in the community stunned.
According to U.S. Attorney Bill Powell, Crayton II pled guilty to one count of "Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine," two counts of "Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine," and one count of "Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin."
The charges stem from incidents in April 2019, June 2019, and July 2019 in Harrison County, where Crayton II allegedly had in excess of 50 grams of methamphetamine. He also admitted to having methamphetamine and heroin on multiple occasions.
Crayton II faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years of incarceration, as well as a fine of up to $10,000,000 for the 50-gram count. He also faces up to 20 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000 for each of the other counts.
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Greater Harrison Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, and the Bridgeport Police Department investigated.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Aloi presided over the case.
