Missoula Man Sentenced for Meth Distribution

MISSOULA, MT - A Missoula man has been sentenced to prison for distributing methamphetamine in the Missoula area.

William Perry Hobbs, 38, was sentenced to four years in federal prison and five years of supervised release on May 25, 2024, U.S. Attorney Kurt G. Alme announced.

Hobbs pleaded guilty earlier to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Hobbs distributed methamphetamine to support his heroin addiction. An undercover law enforcement officer bought meth from Hobbs three times between March to May, and the quantity of meth totaled more than 50 grams of actual meth, equivalent to 400 individual doses.

The case was investigated by the Missoula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Tara Elliott.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime. PSN focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.

Hobbs admitted to being a meth distributor in the Missoula area and distributing to support his heroin addiction. His actions were a threat to the community, and his sentencing is a reminder of the consequences of such actions.

The outcome of this case serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar activities. The Missoula community can rest assured that those who would harm their neighbors with drugs will be held accountable.
