Buffalo Woman Sentenced to Prison for Selling Fentanyl

A Buffalo woman has been sentenced to prison for selling fentanyl, a deadly opioid that has ravaged communities across the country.

Yuminique Toney, 27, was sentenced to serve eight months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The conviction stems from an incident in May 2018, when Toney sold two grams of fentanyl and 14 grams of crack cocaine to an undercover law enforcement officer.

The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan, New York Field Division, and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Timothy Howard.

The crime of distribution of fentanyl is a serious one, and it is a credit to the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation that Toney has been brought to justice.

Toney’s conviction and sentencing serve as a reminder of the dangers of fentanyl and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their role in the opioid epidemic.

In May 2018, Toney sold fentanyl to an undercover law enforcement officer. The sale was part of a larger investigation into fentanyl trafficking in the Buffalo area.

The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch.
