A Moyock man has been sentenced to 77 months in prison for his role in a federal crime.
Zakem Rahmere Clinton, 27, was found in possession of a loaded firearm on the night of a homicide in Moyock, North Carolina.
According to court documents, Clinton was among the individuals present at the scene of the homicide in Currituck County.
When deputies executed a search warrant at his residence, they found a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun in Clinton's bedroom.
Clinton subsequently admitted to possessing the gun on the night the homicide occurred.
U.S. Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr. announced the sentencing after U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan handed down the sentence.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Currituck County Sheriff's Office investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Dodson prosecuting the case.
Clinton's sentence marks the end of a federal case that began with a search warrant in Moyock.
The case number is 2:19-CR-00007-FL.
