Methamphetamine Distribution Plagues Henryetta, Oklahoma

A Henryetta resident has been convicted of distributing methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Michael Wayne Wasson, 64, pleaded guilty to one count of distributing a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

The offense carried a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine. Wasson’s case highlights the ongoing battle against methamphetamine distribution in Oklahoma.

According to court documents, on or about October 19, 2023, Wasson knowingly and willfully distributed the controlled substance. The charge arose from an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge, accepted Wasson’s guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Wasson is currently remanded to the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Edith A. Singer and Jacob R. Parker represented the United States in this case.

This case is the result of a collaborative effort by law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge of methamphetamine in Oklahoma. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma will continue to work tirelessly to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice.
