Miami Clinic Owner Pleads Guilty to $5.3M HIV Fraud Scheme

Miami’s Orlando Pascual Jr. has admitted to a $5.3 million Medicare fraud scheme involving HIV infusion treatments that were never needed.

The clinic owner, charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud, co-owned Medcore Group LLC and M&P Group of South Florida Inc., clinics specializing in treating HIV-positive patients.

Pascual confessed they operated solely for the purpose of defrauding Medicare, paying patients cash kickbacks for every visit. Many patients were either HIV-positive or falsely diagnosed with cancer.

With a sentencing hearing set for April 3rd and seven co-defendants facing trial in February, the case underscores the relentless pursuit of health care fraud within the Medicare Fraud Strike Force.
