On a sweltering summer morning in 1914, thirty young boys from the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Council Bluffs embarked on a journey to the Blue Lake camp in Harrison County, Nebraska. Led by the YMCA’s secretary, J.C. Watson, the group set out to enjoy a week-long camping trip, but little did they know that this would be no ordinary adventure.
