NYPD Officer Involved in Fatal Queens Motorcycle Crash

NEW YORK – A Queens intersection became a death scene on September 27, 2025, when an off-duty New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer slammed into a motorcycle, killing the rider. New York Attorney General Letitia James today released disturbing footage of the incident, fueling public demand for answers and a thorough investigation.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:58 p.m. at the intersection of Francis Lewis Boulevard and Linden Boulevard in Queens. According to the Attorney General’s office, the NYPD officer was making a left-hand turn when his vehicle collided with a motorcycle. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.

Attorney General James’ Office of Special Investigation (OSI) obtained footage from nearby surveillance cameras capturing the collision. The release is part of a broader effort to increase transparency in investigations involving potential police misconduct, a directive issued by James herself. The footage is raw, unflinching, and promises to be difficult viewing for many.

OSI is mandated by New York State Executive Law Section 70-b to investigate every reported incident where a police or peace officer – including corrections officers – may have caused a death, regardless of whether the officer was on-duty, the deceased was armed, or if the person was in custody. The investigation is ongoing, and OSI will determine if the officer’s actions warrant further legal action.

“The release of this footage is not an expression of any opinion as to the guilt or innocence of any party,” a statement from the Attorney General’s office emphasized. “Nor does it indicate how or whether any individual may be charged with a crime.” This cautious wording does little to quell the growing anger from those demanding accountability.

WARNING: The video footage released by the Attorney General’s office contains graphic content that may be disturbing to viewers. Grimy Times has chosen to report on the facts of the incident and the ongoing investigation, recognizing the public’s right to know, but urges discretion when viewing the released materials. The name of the officer involved has not been released at this time, nor has the identity of the deceased motorcyclist.
