New York – In a bold move to combat perceived intimidation by federal immigration enforcement, New York Attorney General Letitia James has launched an online portal for the public to submit photos and videos of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities in the state.
The initiative follows yesterday’s ICE raid on Canal Street in Manhattan. AG James emphasized the importance of citizen documentation, stating, ‘Every New Yorker has the right to live without fear or intimidation.’
Attorney General James is calling on witnesses to upload any footage they may have captured during ICE operations. The portal is designed to allow for a thorough review of these reports and to assess any potential violations of law that could occur during such enforcement actions.
‘No one should be subject to unlawful questioning, detention, or intimidation,’ James declared, underscoring the state’s commitment to upholding legal rights and safeguarding the public from unjust practices.
The Attorney General’s office is committed to reviewing each submission carefully and will take action where necessary. AG James emphasized that ‘our priority is to protect New Yorkers and ensure their rights are not violated.’
This new portal is part of a wider effort by the state to increase transparency in federal immigration enforcement actions and to empower citizens to hold accountable those who may overstep legal boundaries.
