Clayton Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Production

GRIMY NEWS: In a chilling revelation from the federal courts in Salt Lake City, John Reid Clayton, 29, of Stansbury Park, Utah, has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography involving four minors. The 29-year-old was indicted in February with four counts of production and one count of possession of child porn.

According to court documents, Clayton engaged in sexually explicit conduct with four minor children, all born between 2007 and 2011. This disturbing behavior is aimed at producing visual depictions of the acts. The plea agreement was reached on Wednesday afternoon in U.S. District Court.

Judge Clark Waddoups ordered a psychosexual examination for Clayton prior to sentencing, scheduled for July 16, 2013. For his conviction, he faces up to 30 years in federal prison, a fine of $250,000, and a term of supervised release that could last a lifetime.

This grim case was investigated by the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, the Tooele City Police Department, and the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children task force. It is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort to combat child sexual exploitation launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice.

Clayton will also be registered as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act and has agreed to pay restitution and forfeit property linked to his criminal conduct. The case underscores the ongoing battle against the proliferation of child pornography and the justice system’s commitment to protecting our most vulnerable citizens.
