Gregory Stonoha, 24, of Rochester, NY, landed a 48-month prison sentence for possession of child pornography. The conviction was handed down by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

Stonoha’s downfall began when he was found to possess over 1,000 images of child pornography involving prepubescent minors. The disturbing discovery was made by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, acting under the direction of Adam S. Cohen, as part of a larger investigation.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Field, Stonoha was using an application known as Kik to trade child pornography with other users and engage in sexually explicit ‘chats’ with them. The online activity, which spanned his interactions with others, left a trail of evidence that ultimately led to his arrest and conviction.
