Ohio Man Sentenced in Child Porn Attempt Case

Denver – Rande Brian Isabella, 59, of Hubbard, Ohio, has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty on October 7, 2016, for coercing a minor and attempting to produce child pornography.

Isabella was sentenced following a two-week jury trial before U.S. District Court Judge Christine M. Arguello. The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before rendering its verdict, acquitting Isabella on two similar counts.

The evidence presented showed that between September and December 2013, Isabella communicated with a 14-year-old girl from Colorado over the phone and online. He misrepresented his age to her, asking for pictures of herself as their conversations turned sexual. Isabella was able to convince the minor to send him a naked photograph and asked if she would stay with him in Colorado.

Isabella sent explicit photographs of himself to the girl, who responded with more pictures before losing her phone. The girl’s mother discovered the conversation on her daughter’s phone and reported it to law enforcement. HSI began their investigation which led to Isabella’s arrest.

The search of Isabella’s home revealed his phone with communications and photographs of the minor girl and computers containing evidence of his internet searches. He had searched the girl’s name, viewed her Facebook profile, and visited websites about her track races before continuing to communicate with her.

“Producing child pornography victimizes children, it’s as simple as that,” Acting U.S. Attorney Bob Troyer said. “Isabella deserves the severe punishment he faces due to the elite investigation and prosecution.” Isabella faces up to life in federal prison and a $250,000 fine for coercion and enticement of a minor, along with 15-30 years for attempted production of child pornography.
