15 Years for Advertiser of Child Pornography
A Chicago area man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the advertising and distribution of child pornography through a website.
Eric Leslie, 38, of Park Ridge, Illinois, was handed down the sentence by U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd in Fresno, California, on no specific date given for his role in the conspiracy to advertise and distribute child pornography. Leslie was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to one victim.
Leslie pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to advertise child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography on January 21, 2020.
According to court documents, Leslie agreed with one or more persons to advertise child pornography and then distributed images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct to a website from approximately October 2017 through December 2018. When law enforcement officers served a search warrant at his residence in Illinois in January 2019, they recovered more than 600 images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, some of which involved violence.
This case was the product of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) offices in Fresno, California, Chicago, Illinois, and The Hague, Netherlands. Assistant U.S. Attorney David L. Gappa prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Leslie’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of the crime and the efforts of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice. The case highlights the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
