Trenton is reeling after federal authorities dismantled a violent heroin trafficking ring allegedly led by 26-year-old Ishmael Abdullah, a/k/a “Ish,” a/k/a “Gangsta,” a/k/a “Papi.” The operation, which flooded neighborhoods near Spring and Passaic Streets with hundreds of grams of heroin, was propped up by firearms, coded communications, and a network of dealers operating under the radar for over a year.
Abdullah and nine others—including Christopher Proctor, a/k/a “Bris,” a/k/a “Bris Broctor,” 22, both of Trenton—were hit with federal charges of conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin. Six were arrested in a predawn takedown; two are already locked up on state charges and parole violations; and two remain fugitives. All face stiff penalties if convicted, including mandatory minimum sentences tied to drug weight and firearm possession.
According to a criminal complaint unsealed today, the so-called Abdullah DTO relied on stash houses, prepaid burner phones, and encrypted text messages to move drugs and avoid detection. They distributed heroin in prepackaged “bricks” (one gram) and “bundles” (one-fifth gram), feeding addiction across Trenton while keeping firearms on hand to protect their enterprise. Intercepted calls revealed discussions about drug quality, pricing, and even gun access.
“The defendants sold large quantities of heroin out of a residential neighborhood in Trenton, all while keeping firearms on hand to further their drug-trafficking activities,” said U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. “This was not just a drug ring—it was an armed criminal enterprise that destabilized families and terrorized blocks.”
Federal and local agencies, including the FBI Newark Field Office and ATF, executed ten arrest warrants and multiple search warrants across the greater Trenton area. “Today’s arrests highlight our commitment to combating the opiate and heroin epidemic,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Timothy Gallagher. ATF Special Agent in Charge George P. Belsky added that armed narcotics traffickers are a top enforcement priority.
Ishmael Abdullah and Christopher Proctor also face separate charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Those arrested are scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Douglas E. Arpert in Trenton federal court. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek the two still at large.
