Lamar Sinclair Sentenced

Lamar Sinclair, 33, of Norfolk, Va., has been sentenced to 105 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute heroin. This sentence comes after Sinclair pleaded guilty on September 7.

According to court documents, Sinclair conspired to distribute heroin in Norfolk and Virginia Beach with approximately eight other individuals from 2012 to April 2016. What makes this case particularly egregious is that Sinclair’s heroin was laced with fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid. This lethal combination caused six of his heroin customers to overdose.

Fortunately, in each of these cases, the police or emergency services were able to revive the victims of the overdoses. However, Sinclair was aware of the overdoses and showed no remorse, instead bragging that his heroin was very potent because of the added fentanyl. He even referred to his heroin as ‘The Missile,’ a nickname that underscores the dangers of his product.

Law enforcement conducted nine controlled purchases of heroin from Sinclair, with two of those purchases testing positive for fentanyl. This evidence played a crucial role in building the case against him. The announcement of Sinclair’s sentencing was made by Dana J. Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Karl C. Colder, Special Agent in Charge for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Washington Field Division.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Muhr prosecuted the case, which was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith. The sentencing of Lamar Sinclair to 105 months in prison serves as a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking and the distribution of lethal substances like fentanyl-laced heroin.
