Davenport woman Audra Sue Rowson, 43, was hit with a 50-month federal prison sentence on December 14, 2016, for her role in a years-long methamphetamine distribution ring. The conviction, handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge John A. Jarvey, marks the end of a two-year trafficking spree that poisoned the streets of Scott County.
Rowson pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine on August 1, 2016. According to court documents, she operated in the Davenport area from January 2014 through March 2016, building a network to push the highly addictive drug. Her operation wasn’t small-time: she sold approximately 11.5 grams of meth to a confidential informant in three separate controlled buys — transactions that sealed her fate.
When federal and local agents moved in, they executed a search warrant at Rowson’s Davenport residence and found unmistakable evidence of a drug dealer at work: methamphetamine residue, detailed drug ledgers, paraphernalia, and packaging materials consistent with street-level distribution. The scene wasn’t a user’s den — it was a dealer’s office.
The investigation was a joint operation involving the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, the Bettendorf Police Department, and the Quad City Metropolitan Enforcement Group. Their collaboration dismantled a node in what authorities describe as a broader network feeding the region’s growing meth problem.
Following her prison term, Rowson will serve three years of supervised release and must pay $100 to the Crime Victims’ Fund — a small price compared to the damage wrought by her actions. Prosecution was handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, with Kevin E. VanderSchel announcing the sentence.
