Ronald Wilson, 54, Gets 60 Months for Child Porn Possession

SHREVEPORT, La. — Ronald Wilson, 54, is headed to federal prison for five years after being convicted of possessing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Monday. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr., marks the end of a years-long investigation into Wilson’s illicit digital footprint.

Wilson pleaded guilty on April 14, 2016, to one count of possession of child pornography. The charges stem from a March 2015 search of his Shreveport residence, where law enforcement agents seized multiple electronic devices. Inside his bedroom, investigators uncovered 19 videos depicting the sexual abuse of children — evidence they say Wilson knowingly stored and accessed.

In addition to 60 months behind bars, Wilson will face five years of supervised release upon his release. He is also required to register as a sex offender — a lifetime consequence that follows him into his community, workplace, and daily life.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative targeting online child exploitation. Spearheaded by U.S. Attorneys and the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, the program unites federal, state, and local agencies to hunt down predators and rescue victims. The crackdown has intensified as digital abuse proliferates across encrypted platforms and dark web networks.

Homeland Security Investigations, working alongside the Louisiana State Attorney General’s Office and Louisiana State Police, led the probe. Assistant U.S. Attorney Earl M. Campbell handled the prosecution. Authorities are urging the public to report suspected predators via the ICE hotline at (866) 347-2423, online at www.ice.gov/exec/forms/hsi-tips/tips.asp, or through the Operation Predator smartphone app.

Child exploitation cases like Wilson’s reveal the grim underbelly of digital access and unchecked behavior. With each device seized, investigators uncover new layers of abuse — and a reminder that behind every image is a real child victim. Project Safe Childhood continues to push forward, one arrest at a time.
