AMARILLO, TX – Cameron Nesbitt, 33, of Lancaster, California, is facing a long stretch after a federal jury found him guilty of hauling almost 100 pounds of methamphetamine – street value around $400,000 – into North Texas. The conviction comes after a two-day trial in Amarillo.
The trouble started August 2, 2025, when a Texas DPS trooper clocked Nesbitt’s rental car speeding in Oldham County. The trooper, already keyed into the signs of drug runners, pulled the vehicle over. What he found wasn’t a simple speeding ticket case. Inside, stuffed within the vehicle, were nearly 100 pounds of pure meth.
Prosecutors presented evidence showing the car was rented in California. Jurors heard testimony from multiple law enforcement agents and examined over 40 pieces of evidence linking Nesbitt to the massive drug shipment. The DEA and DPS worked the case together, effectively shutting down a major pipeline attempt.
“This defendant traveled in the Northern District of Texas with nearly a half-million dollars’ worth of methamphetamine in his vehicle,” stated U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould. “The astute work of DPS Troopers and DEA agents interrupted his plan to dump these dangerous drugs onto our streets, and the jury held him accountable.”
